Night 2 in Saluda, SC

On Saturday night the Optima Batteries Super Modified Two Wheel Drive division was back in action for session number 2 of the Saluda Young Farmers “Hottest Pull of The South”. Mother Nature would play a factor as a light rain fell throughout the class which added an element of complication to an already tricky red dirt track.

M3 pulling drew the option with the “Thin Blue Line”. After his first pass to start the evening, Tim Messer elected to come back later in the class, which turned out to pay off in spades as the Southwind Dental Care M3 Pulling machine pulled a distance of 299.53 which would be good for 2nd place behind winner Jared Nelson and his “Midnight Revenger” Chevrolet.

“I was hard on the brakes, but I am very pleased with our performance and we had the weight set just about right” mentioned messer at the end of the evening.

The setup was not as kind to the ” Wide Open” machine. “Getting the weight just right is sometimes a tricky process, and we were just too light on the front with the Wide Open truck, noted Tim. “Wide Open” pulled a distance of 282.41 which was good for the number 13 spot on the night.

The Super Modified Two Wheel Drive division will be back in action next weekend at the TS performance pull at the Jim Roberts park in Franklin, Kentucky.
